Burlington Businesses Get Perfect Score in Alcohol Compliance Check


Burlington’s restaurants and liquor stores have showed once again that this town is not a good place for minors to get a drink.


Chief Michael Kent said in a statement he is pleased to to announce that the Burlington Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks at 39 licensed establishments this week and all businesses passed.


The department’s Alcohol Compliance Unit performed the checks on Monday, Nov. 28, the release states. All establishments followed state laws and prohibited the sale of alcohol to a minor. These includes:


The Chateau, Burlington Wine and Spirits, Burton’s Grill, Hilton Garden Inn, Border Café, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s Grill and Bar, Del Frisco’s Grille, Sichuan Gourmet, Redstone Grill, Wegmans, Kings, Osteria Nino, Tony C’s Sports Bar and Grill, The Bancroft, Lester’s Roadside BBQ, Carli Convenience Plus, Olde Towne Liquors, Sweet Ginger, Chettinad Indian Grill, the Liquor Cabinet, Bickford’s Grille, Café Escadrille, Busa Wine and Spirits, L’Andana, Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bonefish Grill, Not Your Average Joe’s, Boston Marriott Burlington, Tuscan Kitchen, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Tavern in the Square, Besito Mexican, Legal Sea Foods, Uno’s Pizzeria and Grill, Blue Stove at Nordstrom and the Cheesecake Factory.


Following guidelines established by the Alcohol Beverages Control Commission, Burlington Police used two underage buyers to enter establishments and attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages, the release says. When buyers failed to present identification, validating they were of legal drinking age, employers at every business refused to serve them.


Burlington Police conduct multiple compliance checks every year at all businesses in town that sell or serve alcohol.



“Alcohol compliance checks are necessary to assure that the licensed establishments here in Burlington are complying with state laws,” Chief Kent said. “I am happy to say that each business we visited did the right thing. They asked for an ID, and when the person didn’t have one, refused to sell or serve alcohol to that person.”
