Free Blood Pressure Checks at the Library

By: BNEWS

The Burlington Board of Health and Health Department is encouraging residents to get a quick and free check that could save your life.

“According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure is a disease that has no symptoms but can be deadly if left untreated,” the Health Department stated in a release. “The American Heart Association estimates that 80 million adults in the US have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Because high blood pressure has no symptoms, it is important to get periodic blood pressure screenings.”

To help ensure all residents know their own blood pressure status, starting in February, the Burlington Board of Health Nurse and the Burlington Medical Reserve Corps will be conducting blood pressure screenings on the first floor of the Burlington Public Library on the second Tuesday of the month from 10 to 11 a.m. and the last Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
