Local Officers Attend Tyler's Birthday Party

By: BNEWS Weekly

All Tyler Seddon’s mother asked for was a card from her local police department for her son’s 7th birthday.  She got much more.

Tyler Seddon is a boy bravely battling leukemia and in need of a bone marrow transplant.  This week a substantial contingent of police and firefighters traveled to Rhode Island for Tyler’s birthday.  Burlington Police Sgt. Gerard McDonough was one of the local organizers who helped two dozen Departments North and West of Boston, including Middlesex County, Essex County, and southern New Hampshire stage at the Burlington Mall.  From there a large convoy descended on Wright’s Farm in Harrisville, R.I.

About a thousand of firefighters and police filled a huge banquet hall where they all sang “Happy Birthday,” then each greeted Tyler personally.  Tyler’s mother looked out at the crowd of uniforms and stated, “This is something to be proud of, that’s for sure.  He’ll be known forever.”

Now Tyler Seddon holds on to hope for a bone marrow match.
