Mercedes-Benz Holds Ground-breaking Ceremony

After January Town Meeting convincingly granted a Planned Development District rezoning of 80 and 82 Cambridge Street for a new Mercedez-Benz dealership, Mercedez-Benz of Burlington held a ground breaking ceremony this week to celebrate.  The Mercedez team welcomed members of the Planning Board, Selectmen and other town officials involved in the project.

Although the ground was broken in a ceremony this week, Mercedez-Benz of Burlington is not quite ready to begin actual construction.  M11 Realty, the legal entity created by The Collection Auto Group for the project was before the Planning Board seeking several special permits to proceed.  The permits requested include modernizing the drainage and wetlands.  The Site Plan permits for 50,000 feet of additional structure, 88 parking spaces, and storage of automobiles.  Discussion was held on the special permits, however, due to the number of permits being applied for, the Planning Board voted to continue the matter to their next meeting on May 15th.

BNEWS Reporter Tad Stephanak was on hand for the occasion and has more on the luxury car dealership’s excitement about becoming a part of the Burlington community:
