Burlington Boys and Girls Track Teams Host Middlesex League Freedom Division Championship

The Boys and Girls Track Teams hosted the ML12 Track and Field Championships last Thursday afternoon at Varsity Field. There were a number of wins for both the boys and girls.

In the 100 meter, Freshmen Ryan Cunningham was 23rd overall but was number two for a freshman in the 100 meter. He finished at 12.21 seconds. Sophomore John Peterson was 26 ranked finishing at 12.29 seconds.

Sophomores Alex Keane (14th overall) and Sean Theurer (15th overall) finished with similar times at 24.75 seconds.

In the 400 meter, Junior Rojit Gurung (14th overall) finished at a time if 56.23 seconds.

In the 800 meter Senior Steven Humphreys (19th overall) finished with a time of 2 minutes and 5 seconds.

In the mile event, Seniors Rishabh Prakash finished in first place at 4 minutes and 20 seconds and Christian Boyadjiev came in 3rd place at 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Sophomore James Johnson (13th overall) finished at 4 minutes and 48 seconds.

Seniors Scott Fraser (13th overall) had a time of 10 minutes, and 34 seconds, Ryan Giogas (18th overall)finished at 10 minutes and 43 seconds. Both seniors competed in the 2 mile.

Junior Kenan Wilson came in 6th place in the high hurdles, 4th in the high jump and won the triple jump with a mark of 43 feet and 8.75 inches.

Senior Tim Pinkham finished in 8th place in the 400 meter hurdle at one minute and one second.

Junior Ryan Devereaux was in 19th place and finished at one minute and seven seconds.

In the long jump, seniors Tommy DeRosa finished at 19 feet and 5.75 inches and Brandon Cascio finished 18 feet and 11 inches. DeRosa finished at 7th place and Cascio at 15th place.

Junior Hayden Mattison finished in 12 place in the triple jump at 36 feet and 9.5 inches.

Seniors Andrew Woods and Johnson Magada finished in the shot put at 3rd  place (Woods) and 6th place (Magada).

Junior Colin Nguyen finished 8th place in the Javelin with a throw of 135 feet. Senior Nick Campbell finished in 11 place at 119 feet and 9 inches.

In the 4 by 100 relay,Freshmen and Sophomores John Peterson, Max Lechner, Sean Theurer and Ryan Cunningham all finished in 10th place at 46.98 seconds.

In the 4 by 400 relay,Senior Tim Pinkham, Juniors Rojit Gurung, Sean Kaweesa and Freshmen Paul Conti finished in 10th place with a time of 3 minutes and 50 seconds.


Seniors Christian Boyadjiev, Rishabh Prakash, Steven Humphreys and Junior Douglas Bibbo finished the 4 by 800 relay at 8 minutes and 13 seconds in first place.

In the girls session,Sophomore Winnie Sekyaya took 5th place in the long jump with a personal best of 16 feet and 11.5 inches.

Freshmen Paige Devereaux placed in 8th with a time of 13.85 seconds in the 100 meter.

In the 200 meter Sophomore Winnie Sekyaya and Senior Winnie Sekyaya finished at 6th place (Sekyaya) and 7th place (Wolinkski) with times of 27.78 seconds and 28.33 seconds.

Sophomores Heather Murphy,Winnie Sekyaya and Freshmen Sylvia Cummings and Paige Devereaux finished in 8th place in the 4 by 100 meter race at 53.29 seconds.

Junior Judy Desmond, Sophomore Angie Melin and Freshmen Michela Giordano and Liz Breiby completed the 4 by 800 meter in 6th place at 10 minutes and 43 seconds.

Junior Anna Matthew finished in 8th place in the triple jump with a height of 32 feet and 3.25 inches.

During a second 4 by 800 meter race, Senior Julia Hovasse, Junior Judy Desmond, Sophomore Angie Melin, and Freshmen Liz Breiby broke the school record by 1.5 seconds at 9 minutes and 54 seconds.

Finally, Senior Makayla Houniet and Junior Judy Desmond have made the cut for the District 3 Pentathlon. They will be competing at North Andover High School at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
