Red Devil Highlights Fall 2020

The Fall Season at BHS came to a close on Saturday, November 21 and a couple of teams had a couple games on that day. 

 

Boys/Girls Varsity Soccer:

 

Boys Varsity Soccer had a match up against the Watertown Red Raiders at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. Click Here for the highlights

The team finished out the season with a (2-6-1) record. Nine Seniors will be departing from the team. Good luck to them in the future. 

 

Girls Soccer traveled to Watertown on November 21 to face the Red Raiders. The girls tied the Red Raiders in a 1-1 final. The team finished the season with a (0-7-3) record. Six Lady Devil Seniors will be departing from the team. Good luck to them on their endeavors. 

 

Girls Varsity Field Hockey:

 

Originally the Girls Varsity Field Hockey team were supposed to play the Wakefield Warriors, but due to rising cases in that town they ended up having their last game on the 14th. Lady Devils ended up getting a tie out of the game and finished the season with a (2-6-1) record.  Two seniors will be departing from the team. 


Winter Sports Update:

As for the Winter Season, the MIAA Board of Directors met on Friday, November 20. The board decided to start the winter season on Monday, December 14 for Basketball, Ice Hockey, Alpine Skiing Nordic Skiing, Gymnastics and Swimming and Diving.

 

However sports such as Indoor Track and Wrestling have been moved. Indoor Track has been moved to Fall session 2 which will start on February 22 through April 25. Wrestling has moved to spring sports which will go from April 26 through July 3.

It was a busy weekend as the Burlington High Fall Sports Season started to come to a close.

 

Boys/Girls Varsity Soccer: 

Boys Soccer headed to Landrigan Field on Saturday, November 14 to take on the Wakefield Warriors. The Red Devils lost by a close score of 1-0. The team drops to (2-5-1) on the season and will play their final game of the season against Wakefield at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field on Saturday, November 21. 

 

Lady Devils Soccer had a home meet against the Warriors on Saturday, November 14 at Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. Burlington lost 3-1 in the defeat against Wakefield. They drop to (0-7-2) on the season and will play their final game of the season on November 21 in Wakefield. 

 

Girls Varsity Field Hockey:

Lady Devils Field Hockey hosted the Warriors on Saturday, November 14 at the BHS Varsity Field. No one scored in any of the four periods of the game. The girls add a tie to the column at (2-6-1) and will play the final game of the season on Saturday, November 14 in Wakefield. 


Boys/Girls Varsity Cross Country: 

Boys Cross Country traveled to Wakefield on Saturday, November 14 to face the Warriors for their final meet of the season. The Warriors put up an upset against the Red Devils, giving them their first loss of the season.  Check out the results below on how everyone did.

Burlington lost to Wakefield by a score of 23-36. The boys finish the 2020 fall season at (4-1). Four seniors who are departing will be Richard Cromwell, James Johnson, Kevin Carnes and Jonathan Wolinkski. These seniors combined will graduate with a (16-4) record in the Middlesex Freedom Division and are (19-5) overall. Congrats to these seniors on their endeavors. 

 

Lady Devils Cross Country lost their final meet of the season against Wakefield on Saturday, November 14 at the BHS Varsity Field. The girls lost 46-16 and ended the season with a (1-4) record. On a positive note, Junior Katie Carney finished in 5th place at a time of 22:13, while Senior Colleen McMakin finished in 8th place at a time of 22:29. Seniors who are departing will be Colleen McMakin, Allie Illidge and Ali Irwin. Good luck to these seniors are their endeavors.

 

Girls Varsity Field Hockey:

 

Girls Field Hockey hosted the Warriors on Saturday, November 14 at the BHS Varsity Field, where four periods couldn’t decide a winner. 0-0 was the final score. The girls will close the season out in Wakefield at Landrigan Field on Saturday, November 21.

Burlington High School Fall sports had a tough weekend against the Melrose Red Raiders. We have the scoop on how they did. 


Boys/Girls Varsity Soccer:

Red Devils Soccer had a home meet against the Red Raiders at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field on Saturday, November 7. Out of all the four periods of the game, neither team scored points on offense and the game ended in a tie. The team played the Red Raiders again on Veterans Day in Melrose where they lost by a score of 1-0. The team drops to (2-4-1) and will play the Warriors on Saturday, November 14 in Wakefield. 


 

 

Lady Devils Soccer traveled to Melrose on Saturday to face the Red Raiders. The girls lost by a close score of 2-1 and dropped to (0-6-1) on the season. They were at home against  Melrose on Veterans Day at Varsity Field where no one scored one either side. The final was 0-0. Burlington drops to (0-6-2) and will play the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday at MSMS Brush Field. 


 

 

Girls Varsity Field Hockey:

Girls Varsity Field Hockey were also in Melrose on Saturday. Burlington lost in a shutout score of 5-0. The girls played the Red Raiders again on Veterans Day at Varsity Field. The team drops to (2-6) on the season and will play the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday at Varsity Field. This game will be live streamed on the BCAT Facebook page. 




Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country:

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both had meets against the Red Raiders on Saturday. 

 

First off, the Lady Devils had their meet at Melrose were they lost. The girls drop to (1-3) on the season and will have another meet on Saturday, November 14 against the Wakefield Warriors at BHS.

 

Red Devils Cross Country faced the Red Raiders at home on Saturday. Let’s see how they did.

The team beat the Red Raiders in a 21-38 victory. Burlington continues its undefeated season at (4-0) and will be taking on the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, November 14 in Wakefield.

With just a few weeks left in the fall sports seasons, teams are still doing well despite having a modified season. We have the scoop on what happened.



To start off, every game on Saturday was cancelled due to the snow on Friday. However, those games were made up on Monday, November 2.

 

Girls Varsity Soccer played against the Watertown Red Raiders at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field on Monday. The Lady Devils lost in a close match of 1-0. Burlington drops to (0-5-1) on the season and will head to Melrose to take on the Red Raiders on Saturday, November 7th. 

 

Boys Varsity Soccer also faced Watertown on Monday at Victory Field. The Red Devils headed home with a victory against the Red Raiders with a final of 4-2. Goals in the game were made by Juniors Ethan Baldiserra with two, Junior Dom Porter with one and another by Sophomore Simon Razzaghi. The boys will play Melrose on Saturday, November 7 at Marshall Simonds Middle School. This game will be livestreamed on our BCAT Facebook Page at 3 pm. The team record moves to (2-3) on the season.

The Red Devils golf team had their final match of the season against Red Raiders at the Billerica Country Club on Tuesday, October 27. The team came out in a victory of 50-22. The team finished the year with a (6-3) record. Good luck to all the seniors on their endeavors. 



Boys and Girls Cross Country will be facing the Melrose Red Raiders on Saturday, November 7th.  Boys will be in Burlington, while the girls will be in Melrose. The Red Devils are (3-0) on the season and the girls are (1-2). 



Lady Devils Field Hockey had a Monday evening match up against the Watertown Red Raiders. Fall Sports are heating up at BHS and we have the scoop about all six Burlington teams.


Boys/Girls Soccer:

On Saturday, October 24 the Burllington Boys Soccer competed against the Watertown Red Raiders at the Marshall Simonds Middle School. Click Here to watch the highlights. The team will face the Red Raiders again on Halloween at Victory Field. Burlington drops to (1-3) on the season.

 

Lady Devils Soccer also faced Watertown on Saturday at Victory Field. The team scored one goal against the Red Raiders in a 1-1 tie. Lady Devils will see them again on Halloween at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. The team falls to (0-4-1). 

 

Boys Golf:

The Burlington Golf team was supposed to play the Wakefield Warriors on Friday, October 23, however the game was cancelled.

 

The team traveled to Oakley Country Club in Watertown to face the Red Raiders on Monday, October 26. The team did very well in the meet and got another W in the win column. The final that day was 46-26 Burlington.

The Red Devils had their final match of the season against Red Raiders at the Billerica Country Club on Tuesday, October 27. The team came out in a victory of 50-22. The team finished the year with a (6-3) record. Good luck to all the seniors in the future. 



Girls Field Hockey:

Girls Field Hockey traveled to Victory Field on Saturday, October 24 to face the Watertown Red Raiders. The Lady Devils were unable to score points on the offense and were shutout by the Red Raiders 6-0. The team will face Watertown again on their home turf on Halloween at Varsity Field. 


Boys/Girls Cross Country:

The Burlington Boys Cross Country team had a meet against the Red Raiders on Saturday, October 24 at Varsity Field. A few athletes ran that day and we have a list of the results to see how they did.

Lady Devils Cross Country had their first win of the season against Watertown on Saturday at Victory Field. The Lady Devils beat the Red Raiders 16-43. Burlington moves to (1-2) on the season. They will face the Melrose Red Raiders on Saturday, November 7 in Melrose.

It was a busy weekend for all the BHS Fall sports teams, let’s see how they did. 


Boys Golf:

On Wednesday, October 14 the Red Devil Golf team traveled to the Bear Hill Golf Course in Stoneham for a matchup with the Spartans. The boys won by two points in the meet 37-35.

 

 

Then on Friday, October 16 they faced the Spartans again at the Billerica Country Club and won big with a final score of 47-25.

On Monday October 19, they headed to Wakefield  to take on the Warriors. The teams winning streak evaporated as they got beat by the Warriors 43-29 They will face Wakefield again on Friday October 24 at the Billerica Country Club.  The boys stand at (4-3) on the season. 

 

 

Girls Varsity Field Hockey: 

Girls Field Hockey also played the Spartans in Stoneham, on Saturday, October 17. The girls won by a score of 2-1. Goals were made by Junior Anna Otis (Assisted by Junior Brooke Bibbo) and Junior Fiona Noone (Assisted by Junior Bella Floyd). The Lady Devils move to (2-2) on the season. They will face the Watertown Red Raiders on Saturday, October 24 at Victory Field. 

 

 

Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer:

Boys Soccer was supposed to play the Stoneham Spartans on Saturday, October 17, but was cancelled the day of. The Red Devils will play the Watertown Red Raiders on Saturday, October 24 at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. Burlington’s record will remain at (1-2) until they get back on the field again. 

 

Lady Devils Soccer headed to Stoneham to face the Spartans in a win they needed desperately.  However the team was unable to score any points on the offense. Another loss came for Burlington in a 3-0 defeat. The Lady Devils drop to (0-4) on the season. They will head to Victory Field on Saturday, October 24 to face the Watertown Red Raiders.

 

Girls and Boys Varsity Cross Country: 

 

Girls Cross Country headed to Colonial Park in Stoneham to take on the Spartans on Saturday, October 17. The Girls ended up losing in a close meet by a score of 24-31. The team drops to (0-2) and will head to Watertown High School to take on the Red Raiders on Saturday, October 24. 

 

Boys Cross Country also took on the Spartans on Saturday at Varsity Field.

The Fall season has hit high gear at Burlington High School and teams have gotten through the first three weeks of the season. 

 


Boys Golf: 

The Red Devil Golf team took on the Wilmington Wildcats on Friday, October 9 at the Billerica Country Club. A 41.9 average number of holes were made that day by the Devils. In the end, the team ended up winning against the Wildcats 48-24. They will be facing the Stoneham Spartans on Wednesday, October 14 at the Bear Hill Golf Course. They team stands at (2-2) on the season.

 

Boys and Girls Soccer: 

 

Boys Soccer played on October 10 and 12 during the holiday weekend. First, they had a match up with the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday. The Red Devils could not get any points on the board as they suffered a 3-0 loss against the Wildcats. However on Monday, they traveled to Stoneham to take on the Spartans. The boys only managed to score one point in its entirety, but they ended up getting the win in the end. Burlington moves to (1-2) on the season. They will be back on Saturday, October 17 to take on the Spartans again at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. 



Girls Soccer also played two games on the holiday weekend. First they hosted the Wilmington Wildcats and suffered a loss of 2-1. Then on Monday, they hosted the Stoneham Spartans at Varsity Field only to fall again by a score of 4-2. The Lady Devils will face the Spartans again on Saturday, October 17 in Stoneham. The ladies fall to an (0-3) record on the season. 

 

 

Girls and Boys Cross Country: 

Girls Cross Country had their home opener against the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday, October 10 at Varsity Field. Many runners had quite the race. Here are the girls results from that day.

The Lady Devils lost against the Wildcats by just a point of 28-27. Burlington Lady Devils will be the Stoneham Spartans on Saturday, October 17 at Colonial Park. They fall to (0-1) on the season.



The Red Devils Cross Country team traveled to Wilmington High School to take on the Wildcats on Saturday, October 10. A number of Red Devils had a good day on the track. Here were the results for Burlington.

The Boys came out of Wilmington with a victory of 42-19 over the Wildcats. They will face the Stoneham Spartans for their home opener on Saturday, October 17 at Varsity Field. The boys stand at (1-0). 


Girls Field Hockey: 

 

Lastly, the Lady Devils Field Hockey team had two games on the holiday weekend. On Saturday, October 10 Burlington faced off against the Wilmington Wildcats at Varsity Field, where they lost 2-0 over the Wildcats. 48 hours later they were back at Varsity Field to play the Stoneham Spartans. 

 

Coach AnneMarie McNeill was very proud of the girls first win of the season. 

 

“They did everything they needed to do and really picked up in the second half,”  Coach McNeill said.  

 

The Girls will play the Spartans again on Saturday, October 17 at Stoneham High School.

 

“It will be a different game,” Coach McNeill said. “Stoneham field is all grass and it will be a different play that the team is used to,”

She said. “We will be practicing on the grass as we get ready to face them once again.” 

 

Three goals in the Monday Stoneham game was scored by Junior Anna Otis and two were assisted by Juniors Jolene Russo and Bella Floyd.

 

The Lady Devils move to (1-2) on the season.
