The Latest Red Devil Action

Burlington High sports teams are still battling hard as they hit the mid point of the spring season.  

The Girls Softball Team played against the Stoneham Spartans on Monday, April 29 at Marvin Field. Things got out of hand quickly after the Lady Devils were able to travel around the diamond 13 times in the victory. However, Stoneham managed to get one point on the board early the Top of the first. Burlington will travel to Melrose to take on the Red Raiders on Friday, May 3 at Pine Banks Park at 4 p.m.

The Boys Track and Field Team had an invitational in the Mass State Track Coaches Association State Relay Championship in Pembroke on Saturday, April 27 where they racked up a number of wins in a variety of events.

Starting off with the individual relay race team of Senior Christian Boyadjiev, Sophomore James Johnson, Senior Steven Humphries and senior Rishabh Prakash won the relay in 18 minutes, 33 minutes and 31 seconds.

Other wins included the shot put trio of Junior Chris Jones and seniors Andrew Woods and Chris Jones who finished second place with a combined distance of 122 feet and 1 inch.

Juniors Ryan Devereaux and Danny Sullivan and Senior Tom DeRosa finished the pole vault in third place at 24 feet and 6 inches.

In the distance medley squad seniors Christian Boyadijiev, Tim Pinkham, Rishabh Prakash and freshmen Paul Conti finished in second place at 11 minutes and 8 seconds.

Overall, Burlington finished the meet in third place at 41 points. The team will travel to Watertown to take on the Red Raiders on Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m. Girls track will also be in Watertown with the boys as well. Their match up is on Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m.

The Red Devil Baseball Team took on the Stoneham Spartans on Monday at the Francis Wyman baseball field. Senior and pitcher Matt Tyman played 6 innings, made one hit and struck out the Spartans seven times. Burlington won 4-0. The team will travel to Watertown on Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m on Victory Field.

The Girls and Boys Lacrosse Teams both had victories against the Wilmington Wildcats on Tuesday, April 30. The boys delivered a blowout score of 14-4 while the girls had a very tight game with a final score of 10-9. Both of the teams will face against the Reading Rockets on Friday, May 3. The girls will be visiting the Reading Rockets and the boys will play at home.

The Girls Tennis Team lost their second game of the season to the Andover Golden Warriors in a rescheduled game from Friday, April 26. The Lady Devils lost to the Golden Warriors 1-4. They fall to 6-2 on the season. Burlington will have another home match on Wednesday, May 1 against the Melrose Red Raiders, before hitting the road on Friday to take on the Reading Rockets.

The Boys Tennis Team won against the Watertown Red Raiders in a 4-1 victory. The boys have improved to their fifth win of the year. The Red Devils will travel to Melrose to take on the Red Raiders on Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m.
