The Latest Red Devils Action

By: Robert Parris

There was a ton of action this past week for the Burlington Red Devils.

Boys Lacrosse clashed with the Arlington Spy Ponders on Monday, April 15 at Varsity Field. Burlington scored 15 points while Arlington only scored 8. Burlington will travel to Newburyport to take on the Clippers on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m.

Girls Lacrosse played against the Lowell Red Raiders on Monday at the Marshall Simonds Middle School Brush Field. In the end, Lowell took home the victory over the Lady Devils. Burlington traveled to Bedford to take on the Buccaneers on Wednesday where they lost 17 to 9.

The girls and boys tennis teams both took on Wakefield Memorial on Tuesday, April 11. The Lady Devils got the victory 5-0 over Wakefield Memorial. Individual wins were made by Madison Metzdorf, Jess Abrevaya and Liz Gillispie. Other wins were secured by Niti Seereeram, Kacey Pustizzi, Jodi Princiotta and Annabel Wiley. The Lady Devils will play against the Wilmington Wildcats on Tuesday, April 23 at 4 p.m. at Rahanis Park.

However the boys couldn’t seal a win over the Wakefield Warriors as they lost 4-1. The boys will try again on Tuesday, April 23 at 4 p.m. against the Wilmington Wildcats in Wilmington.

A special meet was held for the Boys Track and Field team on Saturday, April 13 against the North Andover Scarlet Knights. This event was an invitational for the Red Devils and this does not affect their record in anyway. Burlington Junior Kenan Wilson just finished outside the medals in the MSTCA Pentathlon.

The girls’ softball team was going to have a game on Saturday, April 13 against the Chelmsford Lions, but due to the Field Conditions; the game will be rescheduled to another date.

Finally, Red Devils Baseball held their home opener at Francis Wyman Elementary School on Tuesday, April 16 against the Woburn Tanners. Unfortunately, the game did not go Burlington’s way as they came up short 7-2. The Red Devils turned things around during a make-up game against Cambridge where they secured a victory with a score of 10 to 3.
