Oak Furniture Land Working With Charity to Provide Sick Children ‘Healing Environments’

Burlington’s newest furniture store has announced it has selected a charitable organization to support.

Oak Furnitureland, which opened its first store in the United States in Burlington’s Wayside Plaza last month, said in a statement that it has chosen the Room to Dream Foundation as its first US charity partner.

“Our team began the search for a local charity partner as soon as we decided to make the Boston area our first U.S. home,” said Alex Fisher, CEO of Oak Furnitureland. “Room to Dream does such inspiring, important work, and we are proud to partner with them.”

Room to Dream works with chronically sick children who are forced to stay in one place for extended period of times and helps provide them better environments wherever they are, whether it be their homes, a hospital room or other facility.

“The mission of the Room to Dream Foundation is to create healing environments in bedrooms for children and adolescents who are facing chronic illnesses,” their website states. “As they recuperate and recover, our hope is that their renovated spaces will improve their quality of life, promote strength, imagination, self-worth, and aid in their recovery processes.”

The organization focuses its services on families struggling financially. For each room renovation they purchase new furnishings and supplies that are tailored to the specific needs of the child and their family.

“Through a caring staff of professional and amateur artists, interior decorators, and volunteers, we design and transform living spaces that give children and adolescents room to dream of a healthier future,” their website reads.

In this new partnership, Oak Furnitureland will help Room to Dream volunteer teams recreate bedrooms for six chronically ill children and their siblings in the greater Boston area.

“Room to Dream is honored to partner with an organization that has the resources and reputation of Oak Furnitureland,” said Stefan Nathanson, Room to Dream president. “A fresh, updated space can be a real bright spot for children going through a difficult time, and Oak Furnitureland is the perfect fit with its commitment to style, durability and safety.”
