Story Update 2/7/20

Simon, owner of the Burlington Mall, announced that they will welcome Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse this fall.

According to a release, Fogo de Chão is a leading Brazilian steakhouse, or churrascaria, specializing in fire-roasting high-quality meats using the centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique of churrasco. The restaurant will feature a wide variety of simply seasoned meats that are fire-roasted to expose their natural flavors. The new location opening in the lower level Primark wing will offer house specialties such as picanha sirloin, filet mignon, ribeye and land chops, seasonal salads, soup, fresh vegetables and more.

“We are thrilled to welcome even more dining to our robust line up,” said Burlington Mall General Manager Justin Feldhouse. “Fogo de Chão will complement our multi-phase redevelopment which is currently transforming our shopping center. Dining additions like Fogo de Chão reinforce Burlington as a dining destination for customers from all over New England.”

A popular high-end Brazilian restaurant is looking to locate in Burlington.

Paperwork for a special permit has been filed with the Planning Department for Fogo de Chão Churrascaria (Burlington) for a planned Fogo de Chão restaurant in the Burlington Mall in the new mall corridor located in the former Sears site.

The restaurant was founded by brothers in Southern Brazil who grew up on a farm where they learned to cook traditional recipes. They moved to São Paulo for formal churrasqueiro training and developed the concept for Fogo de Chão. They opened their first restaurant in the United States in 1997 and by 2018 had 52 locations in the United States, Brazil, Mexico and the Middle East. There is currently a Fogo de Chão location in Boston.

The restaurant is described as an “upscale Brazilian chain for all-you-can-eat meat carved tableside plus an extensive salad bar.”

The Burlington restaurant would have seating for 363 guests including 86 seasonal seats located outside.

The special permit application is scheduled to be before the Planning Board on Thursday, February 6.
