By: Tad Stephanak

Burlington Public Schools are set to welcome social media consultant Katie Greer to speak at the Burlington High School auditorium on March 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Parents and guardians of all Burlington students are invited to attend her presentation “Responsible Technology Use” and learn the dangers of social media and how to support children in using technology responsibly.

A former Director of Internet Safety with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Greer was directly involved with the development of one of the first ever internet safety programs. Later she worked with Massachusetts State Police as an Intelligence Analyst, and has since created her own approach to internet safety for people of all ages.

Greer has advised schools, governments and private agencies across North America in developing their own internet policies. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Criminology with a concentration on teens and the internet, Greer seeks to provide households with the education and tools to manage technology in a healthy way.

Greer has been featured in USA Today, TIME Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Parents Magazine on CNN and more. She’s a contributor to ModernMom and an advisory board member on the Internet Keep Safe Coalition.

People of all ages are welcome to Greer’s presentation “Responsible Technology Use” March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Burlington High School auditorium and visit the Katie Greer web site to learn more.
