The following is a guest post from the Burlington High School Music Boosters:

The Burlington High School Marching Band embarked on a new adventure in the 2017 season.  For the first time ever, the BHS Marching Red Devils entered regional competitions to pit themselves against other stellar bands from around New England.  The band entered three competitions through the New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA).

In each competition, the band improved its scores.  The circuit championships were held on November 5, 2017 at Lawrence High School where the Marching Red Devils earned a Gold rating with a cumulative score of 91.

“This year's Marching Band season has been nothing short of magical. From our first rehearsals last Spring, our staff and student leaders knew that we were going to be part of something special,” says BHS Director of Bands, Sean Buchsbaum.

“Our performance quality has gotten stronger from week to week, culminating with an unforgettable show at Burlington's first ever appearance at the New England Scholastic Band Association Championships,” continued Buchsbaum.

The Marching Band’s final performance will be at the Thanksgiving Day football game on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 10 am on BHS Varsity Field.  Once marching band season ends, the band program transitions into Concert Season and will continue to push itself as it prepares for its first concert band competition on April 28, 2018 at the Montreal Heritage Festival in Montreal, Canada.

“Our students have lived our mantra of ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ every day. I am so proud of the growth they've demonstrated as wonderful musicians, and even better people,” said Buchsbaum.

The Marching Red Devils will perform a standstill performance of their competitive show "Bon Voyage!" at the Music Boosters Annual Gala and Silent Auction on Sunday, November 18 at 2 pm.  Tickets are available at www.burlingtontheatre.com, or by calling 781-A FUN TIC. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.

The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble will also perform its annual Holiday Concert on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 7 pm.  All are welcome and there is no charge for admission.
