BHS Student Featured on TED-Ed Blog for Alternative Energy Presentation

A Burlington High School student has been recognized for his work in highlighting alternatives to traditional energy sources.

According to a post on BHS Principal Mark Sullivan's blog, senior Manas Purohit is featured on the Ted-Ed Blog in their post "Future STEM superstars: 4 TED-Ed Club Members present on advanced science topics." Purohit, a member of the Ted-Ed Club at BHS, gave a TED-style talk on alternative energy and science.

"Manas Purohit from Burlington High School urges us to look beyond the gas station when considering the energy source of the future in this brain-bending presentation on matter and antimatter collision," the description from TED-Ed states.

TED-Ed is an offshoot of TED Talks, the organization that provides a platform for expert speakers to share their ideas with the general population.

"The TED-Ed Clubs program aims to amplify the voices of students across the world," the organization's web site states. "On the blog, we do just that by showcasing must-see TED-Ed Club presentations clustered around a specific theme. TED-Ed Clubs is a flexible, school-based program that supports students in discussing, pursuing and presenting their big ideas in the form of short TED-style talks."
