Board of Health and BVRC to Host Presentation on Emergency Preparation


Get some practical information on what to do in an emergency at a free presentation.

Members of the public are invited to attend the a presentation on Community Preparedness at a meeting of the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps (BVRC) on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:00 pm. in the Murray Kelly Wing of the Human Services Building.

Chris Paulik, RN, the Burlington Board of Health Supervisory Nurse, will be conducting the presentation. Participants will learn about best practices and will be provided with information and tools to enable them to prepare themselves and their families for emergencies that could occur in Burlington.

“The BVRC is a volunteer organization whose members are ready to provide assistance to the Burlington Community in the event of an emergency, such as widespread power outages, pandemic disease outbreaks, or severe weather emergencies,” the event invite states. “BVRC members participate in trainings, exercises, and drills to become better prepared for emergency situations. In addition, BVRC members provide assistance to the Board of Health during flu clinics, household hazardous waste collections, blood pressure screenings, and other public health initiatives.”
