Board of Health Has One Prevnar 13 Pneumonia Vaccine for Resident Over 65

The following is a release from the Burlington Health Department:

Prevnar 13 pneumonia vaccine is recommended for all adults 65 years or older.

According to the CDC, “each year in the United States, about 18,000 adults 65 years or older die and thousands more end up in the hospital because of pneumococcal disease.  The best way to prevent pneumococcal disease is by getting vaccinated.”

The Burlington Board of Health is now offering Prevnar 13 to one Burlington resident over the age of 65, regardless of insurance status, by appointment only.
