Burlington D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches Closed as Parent Company Files for Bankruptcy

By: Rich Hosford

The Burlington D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches shop on Middlesex Turnpike has closed.

The restaurant closing coincides with numerous closings of D’Angelo and Papa Gino’s locations over the weekend that saw the laying off of more than a thousand employees in New England states.

On Monday, PGHC Holdings Inc., the parent company said it had filed for bankruptcy and that it planned to sell the company to Illinois-based Wynnchurch Capital. The terms of the agreement have not been released to the public. Court documents say PGHC Holdings is roughly $100 million in debt.

As of Tuesday evening Burlington’s Papa Gino’s was still open.
