Burlington Elementary Schools Hosting Pet Food Drive for Area Shelters

Help keep some canine and feline friends well fed while teaching your elementary school student about the power of charity.

A Better Way Pet Sitting Service is once again hosting the Hungry Bowl Pet Food Drive at Burlington’s four elementary schools, a blog post from Burlington Public Schools says. All pet food collected will be donated at the end of the month to Northeast Animal Shelter and Cape Ann Animal Aid.

This community outreach program is sponsored by PSI (Pet Sitters International) and is an international effort to collect pet food for local shelters throughout the month of October.

“Last year, Burlington elementary school students donated over 744 lbs of dog and cat food!” the blog said.

If you would like to participate, have your child bring into school any dog or cat food that you would like to donate and place it in the pet collection barrel located in the lobby of your elementary school. Any type of dry or canned food is acceptable.

The following is a schedule of when the collection barrel will be at your child's school:

- Francis Wyman School Lobby 10/1-10/11/19

- Fox Hill School Lobby 10/1-10/11/19

- Memorial School Lobby 10/14-10/25/19

- Pine Glen School Lobby 10/14-10/25/19

“Shelters are experiencing greater need than ever before, but we feel confident that the students of Burlington can help make a huge difference in the lives of shelter pets while they await their ‘Forever Homes,’” the blog reads. “Thank you for your consideration of this community effort!”
