Burlington Fire Department Adds Two New Firefighter/Paramedics to its Ranks


The Burlington Fire Department added two new members to its ranks on Monday night.


At the Board of Selectmen meeting Town Administrator Paul Sagarino appointed Firefighter/Paramedics Austin Arsenault and Mitchell Cunningham as the newest members of the department.


“I think the board will be very pleased with two very strong candidates we hope to appoint this evening,” he said to the board before turning things over to Fire Chief Steve Yetman to introduce the new recruits.


Yetman said Arsenault, a Burlington resident who graduated from Shawsheen Tech, has been an Emergency Medical Technician since 2015. He received his Paramedic Certification last year and is currently a security supervisor at McLean Hospital. He also works for Pridestar Ambulance.


Yetman said Cunningham is an Arlington resident who received is Emergency Medical Technician Certification in 2016 and also earned his Paramedic Certification last year. He has worked for Armstrong Ambulance for three years, first as an EMT and then as a paramedic once he was certified.


The board voted to waive the normal 15-day waiting period for both new hires.
