Burlington Firefighter Promoted to Lieutenant

The Burlington Fire Department has a new lieutenant in a familiar face.

During Monday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting Firefighter Kevin Pollicelli was promoted to Fire Lieutenant by Town Administrator John Petrin at the recommendation of Fire Chief Steve Yetman.

Yetman said Pollicelli was chosen from a pool of four candidates provided by the Civil Service for the position.

“All candidates were highly qualified individuals and would make great fire officers but we currently have only one opening available,” he said.

Pollicelli has a Bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in mathematics from Syracuse University. He also has an Associate’s degree in fire protection and safety technology from Middlesex College and is currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s of Science program for fire science and administration at Columbia Southern University.

Pollicelli has a number of certifications, including Firefighter I/II, Driver/Pump Operator, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I and Incident Safety Officer. He has also served as the department’s EMT Coordinator.

Petrin said he was happy to announce the promotion.

“He meets all the basic requirements but also certainly went beyond them,” he said. “It is my privilege to promote Kevin Pollicelli to lieutenant.”
