Anyone interesting in a taking a deep dive into Burlington’s geographical and housing information now have a powerful new tool.

The Burlington Planning Department has posted its new Burlington Geographic Information System (GIS) on the town website.

“With Burlington's interactive mapping tool users can view zoning layers, search for and view property record cards, print unofficial abutters lists, and much more,” a release from the town says. “Integration with Google Basemaps provides updated aerial as well as street view imagery for most properties.”

The Planning Department has been working on developing the Burlington GIS page which is all about Burlington's spatial data, the release states. The Town's Geographic Information System is a computer based system which captures, stores, retrieves, analyzes, and displays any data which is spatially defined. The system applies graphical integration and database technology to efficiently manage town data by forming a relationship between data and place.

“Burlington Planning is constantly working on creating, maintaining and delivering the most accurate and reliable GIS datasets we can to our users,” the release states. “This site is a portal to both our interactive mapping application and static map sets. Please take some time to explore our site and learn more about Burlington!”
