Burlington Police to Hold 'Cops n Cars' Event on Town Common

By: Rich Hosford

The Burlington Police Department is looking to fill the Town Common with antique cars for a day of fun and for a chance for residents to meet with police officers.

Sgt. Bernie Schipelliti was at Monday evening’s Board of Selectmen meeting to seek permission to use the Town Common for a Cops n Cars event that will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 with a rain date of Sunday, June 9.

“The idea is pretty simple - police have been involved with cars for a long time one way or another, either in them or chasing them,” Schipelliti said. “Not that we chase them too often these days but police work involves car. So we want to have an antique car show that will include old cruisers, which most people never get to see.”

All proceeds from the event will be donated to People Helping People and the Burlington Food Pantry and the organizations other charity works in town.

“We think it will be a really good end product,” Schipelliti said. “Aside from having a great day on the Common we will have a donation to People Helping People.”

Along with the antique cars there will also be food trucks

The members of the Board of Selectmen approved the use of the Town Common with a unanimous vote.
