Burlington Police Welcome BHS 2013 Grad to the Force

The Burlington Police Department has a young new member who is also a Burlington local.

During Monday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting Town Administrator John Petrin appointed Dominic Alfred Calicchio, of Burlington, to the force. He is the son of Alfred and Gloria Calicchio and is a Class of 2013 graduate of Burlington High School.

Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said Calicchio previously serviced as a part-time police intern with the department last year, all the while being engaged in other areas of the community.

“While maintaining excellent standing with the department, Officer Calicchio was also able to coach basketball and assist the varsity football coach at Burlington High School,” Kent said in a statement.

Calicchio, 22, is coming to the department from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell where he is currently finishing a joint bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminology, a release from the police department states. He has made the dean’s list in all seven of his semesters at the university.

“Officer Calicchio has an outstanding work ethic and has shown great ability to lead,” Kent said. “He is team-oriented and highly motivated and will make a great addition to the Burlington Police Department.

Kent said Calicchio was chosen out of more than 200 initial candidates.
