Burlington Resident Appointed to Fire Department as Firefighter/Paramedic


The Burlington Fire Department welcomed a new member to its ranks on Monday night.

At the recommendation of Fire Chief Steven Yetman, Burlington Town Administrator John Petrin appointed Greg Ouellet as a firefighter/paramedic with the department.

Yetman said Ouellet, a Burlington resident, has worked as a firefighter/paramedic with the Town of Belmont for the past year and a half. He also worked for Cataldo Ambulance as a paramedic for two years and worked for Lifeline Ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician

Ouellet has attended and graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy. He is a certified as a Firefighter I and II and is a Nationally Certified Paramedic. He is also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is a Certified Diving Instructor.

Before making the appointment Petrin said he was glad to see the department continue on its mission of bringing onboard enough paramedics to make the transition to Advanced Life Support. He also said he was happy to appoint a Burlington resident.

“He has good qualifications and to have a Burlington resident being appointed is great,” he said. “It is my pleasure to appoint Greg Ouellet as a Firefighter/Paramedic.

The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to waive the 15-day waiting period for new hires and appointees.
