Burlington Schools Planning Final iPad Distribution Event Next Week

By: Rich Hosford

Burlington students will have one more opportunity to collect iPads if they don’t have one at home.

As reported on BNEWS, Burlington Public Schools unrolled plans for Remote Learning earlier this week. To ensure all students can participate they want to get school-issued iPads to them.

“We continue to receive requests from families for iPads to be made available for students so they can better access remote learning opportunities at home,” a blog post from the School Department states. “Thanks to the efforts of a number of staff members, we have been able to send home nearly 400 iPads to date. With at least another month ahead of us before we return to school, we would like to offer one final opportunity for students to get iPads at home.”

They said that anyone who has a student who needs an iPad must fill out this form before Monday, April 6.

“We know these are challenging times, so if your student needs their district-provided device at home during the remainder of our school closure, please fill out the form,” the blog states. “We are planning on a pick-up time at the schools early next week. Families that fill out the form will receive an update via email with more specifics early next week.”

Providing technology to students that they can use to access educational resources and connect with teachers is the goal of the department.

“Our goal is to connect with every student every day and to provide flexible learning options for students,” the blog reads. “We continue to make adjustments to our Remote Learning Plans and we are adding content in real time.”

Here is a video of Assistant Superintendent Patrick Larkin explaining how the first iPad hand-out was conducted.
