Burlington Senior Center Programs Cancelled with Exception of Tax Help

By: Rich Hosford

Burlington Council on Aging Director Marge McDonald has made the decision to close the Burlington Senior Center and cancel all programs, with once exception, in an attempt to protect the senior population while the area is experiencing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Because of the ongoing state of emergency and the increase in cases as well as our desire to make sure all are healthy and safe all programs and activities except for taxes are canceled until further notice,” she said in a robocall. “We will continue to keep tax appointments as long as possible.”

The Council on Aging will continue to provide services but over the phone rather than in person.

“My staff will be available but we ask that you call rather than come in to see us if at all possible,” McDonald explained.

Those who get meals delivered will continue to do so.

“Home delivered meals will still go out but think of this as a snow storm, activities are canceled but we are still here for you,” McDonald said. “If you are feeling at all anxious about this situation or need anything from us please make sure you reach out to us at 781-270-1950.”
