Burlington Town Clerk Seeks to Fill Part Time Job


The Town of Burlington is looking for a part time employee to work in one of the department’s vital to the functioning of the municipality.


The Burlington Town Clerk’s office is looking to fill a part-time position. The person would generally work between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with occasional coverage needed beyond those hours for vacations and elections, a release states. Schedule is highly flexible to accommodate the needs of both the office and the selected candidate. The position would be for up to 19 hours per week and has a starting hourly rate is $22.99 per hour. It does does not include benefits.


Examples of work include:


- Assist the public with any number of transactions that they come into the office to handle.

- Record and maintain databases relating to vital records, licenses, variances, census, elections, permits, fines, and minutes; prepare and distribute various database reports.

- Assist in maintenance of a variety of documents and publications that the Clerk’s office creates

- Administer oaths of office to elected/appointed officials and provide them with copies of relevant laws.

- Assist with posting public meetings of town boards and committees, monthly calendars and other website updates.

- Assist the Clerk and other office staff in a variety of office tasks.

The minimum qualification are:


- High school diploma with experience in clerical/office work.

- Superior and current computer skills, including record/database management using Microsoft Access.

- Working knowledge of state statutes and regulations, or ability to gain this knowledge.

- Exceptional communication, organizational and customer service skills.

- Must be a Notary Public and a Commissioner to Qualify Public Officers, or be willing to be appointed and perform as such.

- Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a multi-disciplined and dynamic work environment.
