Buy Stamps and Support Breast Cancer Research

Pick up some postage stamps and help support breast cancer research at the same time.

The Burlington Post Office is holding a breast cancer awareness event with representatives from Lahey Clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. The post office is also selling Breast Cancer Stamps with 11 cents of each sale going towards the American Cancer Society.

Burlington Post Office Postmaster Janet Atkinson said Monday’s event is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She said the people from Lahey Clinic will be there with informational brochures and be on hand to answer questions.

“We’re just trying to make people more aware,” she said. “Anything detected early is easier to cure. We’re just trying to promote awareness and support the Cancer Society.”

Atkinson said that up to date this year the U.S. Postal Service has sold 6.2 million of the Breast Cancer Stamps. The Greater Boston District is also leading the nation in fundraising with $426,000 raised thus far.

“We’re right at the top and we want to continue to promote awareness,” she said.
