Child Care Center First Applicant for Shoppes at Simonds Park Project

By: Rich Hosford

Burlington parents in search of daycare may soon have a new option to explore.

A special permit application for Safari Kids, a child care center, has been filed for the new Shoppes at Simonds Park development at 160 Cambridge Street. This is the first tenant to apply with the town for inclusion in the development project.

The child care center will occupy a 7,004 square foot portion of Building B on the site.

“As a result, minor exterior site changes are proposed to construct an outdoor playground area adjacent to the northwest end of the building as well as associated site access modifications,” the application states. “The proposed site changes consist of a 5-foot sidewalk and fencing around the play area, replacing the existing catch basin in the proposed playground area, and the construction of a crosswalk and handicap accessible wheelchair ramp to access the child care center.”

The special permit application is set to be before the Planning Board on Thursday, July 18.
