Do You Have Too Much Stuff? Historical Society Hosting Clutter Control Expert

Do you find your house, bedroom, garage or basement getting full of stuff that you don’t really use but just can’t seem to throw away?

The Burlington Historical Society has something that might help. On Thursday, October 5 they are hosting a talk by Clutter Control Expert Dave Downs starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Murray-Kelly wing of the Human Services Building, 61 Center Street.

“Have you got too much ‘stuff’?” an invite to the talk asks. “This is a tough one especially for us that respect the things of the past. The Burlington Historical Society presents Dave Downs, with an upbeat way to clear a path out of your own particular clutter.

“With his upbeat and unique approach, Dave Downs explores the many reasons that our drawers, closets and garages get filled with STUFF,” the Historical Society says. “Dave uses colorful stories throughout the talk to engage as well as inform the audience. You may recognize a part of yourself in these stories. But, hang on, there is hope; Downs offers helpful hints for managing this problem that can be so difficult and sometimes embarrassing!  Participants will leave knowing that if we are thoughtful about what we acquire; what we keep and what we discard, we will start to reverse the tendency to bury ourselves in treasures!”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the Dave Downs presentation starting at 7 p.m. The rest of the agenda consists of refreshments, a short business meeting and a raffle.  There is no admittance charge.
