Donations of Extra Halloween Candy Being Collected for Soldiers Overseas

By: Rich Hosford

If on November 1 you have more Halloween candy than you know what to do with there is a win-win solution - donate it to Burlington Veteran Services to be shipped to men and women serving overseas.

“We have been asked and we will gladly accept any leftover Halloween candy you may have,” the department said in a Facebook post. “We will package it all up and send it with the handmade letters we receive from the kids in the Burlington Public Schools to veterans that are currently deployed overseas.”

Burlington Veteran Services is located in room 203 (second floor) of the Human Services Building at 61 Center Street. There will be a container set up outside the office for donations in case nobody is there when you stop by.

“You can do so anonymously or can leave a little note that we also include when we ship them off,” the Facebook post states. “Thanks for asking and thinking of our amazing Veterans.”
