Fire Department's Mark Cedrone Promoted to Captain

A familiar face at the Burlington Fire Department has a new position.

At Monday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting Town Administrator John Petrin approved the promotion of Lt. Mark Cedrone to captain. Cedrone was promoted to fill the place left vacant after Captain Scott Carpenter, a 32-year-veteran of the department, retired. Cedrone’s promotion was recommended by Fire Chief Steve Yetman and Assistant Chief Mike Patterson.

“We have a promotional opportunity and I am making a recommendation for Mark Cedrone tonight,” Yetman said.

The chief said that Cedrone joined the Burlington Fire Department in February 2001 and was promoted to lieutenant in April of 2008. When the captain position opened up five current lieutenants were interviewed and tested and Cedrone had the top performance.

Petrin said he was happy to make the promotion.

“He’s been a solid member of the department and we have an excellent fire department,” he said. “It is my privilege to hereby promote Lt. Mark Cedrone to Captain.”

The Board of Selectmen waived the 15-day waiting period.
