Friendly Toast Offering Free Meal to Federal Workers (and Guest) Affected by Shutdown

Any federal government workers being affected by the partial government shutdown now in its 25th day can get a free meal at a restaurant located in the Burlington Mall.

The Friendly Toast said it is offering free entrees to federal and government workers and a guest as the government shutdown continues. The Friendly Toast will pick up the tab on meals when employees present a proof of employment or valid ID. The complimentary meal includes two entrees from the current menu or weekly specials and a soft drink but excludes appetizers and alcohol.

“We at The Toast want those experiencing the effect of the shutdown to have a normal dining experience when they visit during this time and not worry about the bill,” said Eric Goodwin, owner, The Friendly Toast, Goodwin Hospitality. “This is our way to recognize and say thank you to federal and government employees for their hard work and acknowledge all that they do during this challenging time.”

The complimentary meal for diners will expire when the government shutdown is lifted.
