Fundraiser Created for 90-Year-Old Mother of Maryvale Road Fire Victim

By: Rich Hosford

A fundraiser has been set up for the mother of Kevin O’Brien, the victim of the January 9 house fire at 26 Maryvale Road.

On that day at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Burlington Fire and Police Departments responded to Maryvale Road for a report of a house fire with people still inside. While they were enroute a neighbor and a passing FedEx delivery driver helped an older woman out of the burning house. Kevin O’Brien, her son, was trapped inside and he did not make it out. His body was discovered by the Burlington Fire Department after they had worked on extinguishing the fire.

The fundraiser is being organized by the Burlington Breakfast Rotary Club and a neighbor. The name of O’Brien’s mother is not officially being released but she is 90 years old and could use assistance from the community.

The fundraiser organizers are asking, due to issues with space, not to send clothing. Instead, they suggest a financial donation made out by check would be the best way to help.

Checks can be sent to:
