Grand Jury Indicts Burlington Man on Child Rape Charges

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has released a list of grand jury indictments handed down between June 1 and July 20 and one Burlington man accused of rape of a child was on the list.

According to the district attorney’s office Luis Gonzalez, 57, of Burlington, was charged with aggravated rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.

The DA’s office said Gonzalez was charged in connection with multiple alleged sexual assaults of a 10-year-old female who was known to him.

The defendant was arraigned in Woburn District Court on May 9 and arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on June 20. Clerk Magistrate Lisa McGovern set bail at $5,000 cash, and ordered the defendant to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and to stay away from, and have no contact with, the victim.

The next scheduled hearing in this case is August 30.

Ryan’s office states that these charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Tom Brant.
