Grand Jury Indicts Man Who Allegedly Stole Nearly $500,000 in Equipment from Employer


Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has released a list of grand jury indictments handed down between April 13 and May 30, 2017 and one man accused of stealing from his employer in Burlington was included.

According to the district attorney’s office:

Geoffrey James, 53, of Barre, was charged with larceny over $250 (3 counts) and receiving stolen goods over $250 (2 counts). The Assistant District Attorney is Graham Van Epps.

In December, 2016, the Burlington Police Department reported they arrested James after he allegedly stole almost $500,000 worth of equipment from his employer to sell online.

Burlington Police conducted an investigation into stolen medical, computer, and office equipment after being contacted by a local business about a possible theft. Detectives subsequently served a search warrant, which resulted in the recovery of stolen property worth $461,497.98, and other evidence at James’ residence.
