Hearing on Mary Cummings Park Shade Tree Removal on Wednesday


Anyone with thoughts or feelings on removing trees at Mary Cummings Park can share them with the town at a special hearing this Wednesday 


According to a release from the town, in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, the Burlington Department of  Public Works will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m. on a request to remove public shade trees in the vicinity of Mary Cummings Park (25 Blanchard  Road). The hearing will be held by the Town of Burlington Tree Warden at the Town Hall Annex Meeting Room B (basement).  


The request is for the removal of forty trees made by the Trustees of the Reservation as part of the Mary Cummings Park Project. They include 20 ash, one apple, two cherry, eight elm, six maple, and three oak trees.  


Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to John Sanchez, Tree Warden at the Burlington Deptartment of Public Works, 29 Center Street, Burlington, MA 01803 or by emailing dpw@burlington.org with “Tree Hearing” in the subject  line.
