Help Veterans Keep Warm this Winter by Donating to Sock Drive

The following is a release from the Rotary Club of Burlington:

The Rotary Club of Burlington High School Interact Club will be holding a “White Tube Sock Drive” to support Veterans of the Bedford V.A. throughout the month of November and December.

While most people take a pair socks for granted, Veterans throughout the United States do not.  The veterans use the socks to keep their feet warm and for those who have sores or wounds, the socks protect their feet.  A new pair of socks can save a veteran from serious foot problems.  Many of our Veterans live in Veteran Facilities or Homeless Shelters.  They wear the sock once and then when they are washed they do not get them returned. That is one of the many reasons this sock drive is so important.

The drop off boxes will be at the Burlington Town Hall, Burlington Council on Aging (both on Center St.) Burlington High School, as well as Federal Heating, 611 Main St., Room 202, Winchester.  The students are asking that only new “White Tube Socks” be donated as that is what the Veterans are in need of.

The Interact Club is a community service club that is part of the Rotary Club of Burlington.  So while you are out doing your holiday shopping consider purchasing a pair of white tube socks for the Veterans that made us safe.   For more information about the Rotary Club of Burlington that sponsors this great group of young adults see
