Latest Library News: Adult Summer Reading, Mother-Daughter Book Club, Teen Paint Night

Adult Summer Reading

 

Our Summer Reading programs aren’t just for kids!  Adults can join in on the challenge as well. Fill out a form for each book you read between June 1 and August 31 and automatically earn chances to win a monthly drawing for prizes!  For more information on how to participate, visit our website at burlingtonpubliclibrary.org and click on the Adult Summer Reading link under “Library News” on the homepage.  July’s prize is pizza and a movie!  The bucket of goodies includes a $25 gift card to The Upper Crust Pizzeria and a $25 gift card to AMC Burlington 10.



Youth Services Programs

 

Spend the week with us at the library! We have adventures in everything from science to magic to magical sports for kids of all ages.

 

Teens: Are You Smarter Than a Librarian? - Thursday, July 12, 3:30- 4:30 pm, Grades 6-12 Compete with Jenna and Nicole for the trivia crown!

 

Mother-Daughter Book Club - Thursday, July 12, 5:45-7 pm Meet Erin Moulton, author of this month’s book, Flutter.  Enjoy snacks while talking to Erin about her wonderful book! Amanda still has copies of the book at the Children’s Desk. Grades 3-6

 

Preschool Fun & Games - Friday, July 13, 1-1:45 pm Join Mary for games that exercise your brain and your body!  Ages 3-6

 

Tweens and Teens Camp Half-Blood - Friday, July 13, 3:30-5:30 pm Mastermind Adventures will be here to lead you in Camp Half-Blood games such as Troll Ball and Boffer Practice. Grades 4 and Up

 

Movie Monday - Monday, July 16, 1-3 pm, All Ages Enjoy the Lego Ninjago movie with popcorn in air-conditioned comfort!

 

Teen Paint Night - Monday, July 16, 7-8:15 pm Paint an amazing picture of a midnight owl with Nicole. Grades 6-12

 

Science Tellers Wild West Science Show - Tuesday, July 17, 11 am- Noon, All Ages Use science to stop a runaway train, escape an abandoned mine shaft, and stop an outlaw before he robs the bank in this exciting Old West adventure!

 

Lego Night - Tuesday, July 17, 7-7:45 pm, Grades K-6 We provide the legos, you provide the imagination!

 

Family Story and Craft - Wednesday, July 18, 11am- Noon, All Ages Joanna will read stories then lead a story-based craft.

 

Magic Tree House Book Club - Wednesday, July 18, 3:45-5 pm, Grades 1-3 Join Mary for an adventure, craft, and snack based on Dolphins at Daybreak. Copies are available at the Children’s Desk.

 

Preschool Science - Thursday, July 19, 11-11:45 am Joanna will introduce your child to the wonders of everyday science.

 

Teen Books and Brownies - Thursday, July 19, 4-5 pm Nicole and Jenna will lead a brownie-fueled book talk.

 

Mike Bent: Readers of the Lost Book - Thursday, July 19, 6:30-7:30 pm, All Ages Nickelodeon award winner Mike Bent presents an exciting Raiders style magic show for the whole family!

 

Tween-Teen Quidditch Match - Friday, July 20, 3:30-5 pm Nicole will have everything you need to play a grounded-but-still-very-cool-game of Quidditch. Come get your magical game on!

 

Summer Storytimes

Toddler Times on Mondays at 10:30 am  

Pajama Time: Tuesday, August 6, 6:30-7 pm (Ages 3-6)

Family Story and Crafts on Wednesdays, 11 am-Noon (All Ages)
