Latest Library News: Last Thursday Book Discussion, Blood Pressure Screening

The following is a release from the Burlington Public Library:

Last Thursday Book Discussion Group: Townie by Andre Dubus III - Thursday, January 30 6-8pm

After their parents divorced in the 1970s, Andre Dubus III and his three siblings grew up with their overworked mother in a depressed Massachusetts mill town saturated with drugs and everyday violence. To protect himself and those he loved, Andre started pumping iron and learned to use his fists.  Nearby, his father, an eminent author, taught on a college campus and took the kids out on Sundays. Eventually, Dubus turns to writing to change his life. Discussion will be led by Marnie Smith; copies of the book are available at the circulation desk.

Annual Boston Bruins PJ Drive at the Burlington Public Library - February 1st through March 15th

The Burlington Public Library is participating in the annual Boston Bruins PJ Drive February 1st through March 15th.  Stop in anytime we’re open to drop off brand new pajamas. We’re looking for all youth sizes, from tiny babies up through teenagers. Please keep in mind we can only accept brand new with tags still on them.  You can leave donated PJs in the box located at the Youth Services desk. All PJs collected will be distributed to children who need them through Cradles to Crayons and the Department of Children and Families, which means these pajamas will stay local and help kids in our area!
