Latest Library News: Playing is Learning, Unicorn Story & Craft, Saturday Stories

The following is a release from the Burlington Public Library: 


Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Lamps now available at the Burlington Public Library 

Burlington has two bright light therapy lamps for patrons to use. These lamps are used for Seasonal Affective Disorder, the winter blues, and may assist with setting circadian rhythms and help sleep. One can be borrowed for a week. The other is for in-library use.  Lamps live in the Reference Department. Come get some sunshine!


Youth Services Programs


Playing is Learning - Thursday, April 4, 1-1:45 pm Family Access presents a free play time for ages 2-6 years old.


Acting Out - Thursday, April 4, 4-4:45 pm Join Mary for Drama Games that take a few props, your energy, and your imagination to create your own plays.

SAT Math Demystified - Thursday, April 4, 6-7 pm Tutors from Shine In Academy will be here to help teens prepare for the Pre- Algebra and Pre-Calculus portions of the SAT exam.


Teen Lounge - Friday April 12 and 19, 2:30 to 4:30 pm Nicole will have delicious snacks for you to munch on while playing your favorite games. What a great end to a long week!


Saturday Stories - Saturday, April 6, 11-11:30 Joanna will share songs and stories with you.  Ages 2-6


Toddler & Preschool Story & Craft - Monday, April 8, Toddlers 10:30 & Preschoolers 11:30 Join Mary for some funny bathtub stories and songs, followed by a bubble bath print craft.


Pajama Storytime - Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 pm Joanna has alphabet stories and songs for you and a alphabet craft afterwards. Ages 3-6


Playing is Learning - Thursday, April 11, 1 pm Family Access presents a free play time for ages 2-6 years old.


Unicorn Story & Craft - Thursday, April 11, 4:00 pm Amanda has magical unicorn stories and songs for you, followed by a unicorn craft. K-3


Mother-Daughter Book Club - Thursday, April 11, 6:00 pm This month’s book is Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  Pick up a copy at the Children’s Desk and read it together. At the club meeting moms and daughters can talk about the book with Amanda, then do a related craft. Gr. 3-5


SAT Math Demystified - Thursday, April 11, 6-7 pm in Meeting Room 4 An informational series by Shine In Math Academy.Learn about the content of Math from PreAlgebra through PreCalculus that you will see on the SAT test. Shine In Math is recognized Best Of Burlington for SAT Prep and Tutoring services for four consecutive years and helped many students perfect their SAT Math scores. Register online to secure a spot. 


Teen Lounge - Friday, April 12, 2:30-4:30 pm


Meet the Easter Bunny - Saturday, April 13, 11-11:30 am Get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny, and enjoy some fun tie-in activities.

Storytime Schedule


Baby Storytime - Fridays @ 11 am  For caregivers with children from birth to 18 months.  Delight and enliven your baby’s senses with books, songs, toys, and puppets.  Build brain power.


Toddler Storytime - Tuesdays and Wednesdays @ 10:30 am For caregivers with children ages 18-36 months.  Interact with your toddler with your toddler during storytime to nurture a love of books.  Be active with music and movement!


Preschool Storytime - Wednesdays@ 11 am For caregivers with children ages 3-6 years. Help your preschooler get ready to read.  Enjoy stories together and build language skills.
