Letter to the Editor: Burlington Resident Kent Moffatt’s Write-In Campaign for Shawsheen Tech School Committee

The following is a Letter to the Editor:

I hope you are enjoying your week.  I was hoping to introduce myself.  My name is Kent Moffatt, and I am running as a write-in for the open Burlington seat at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School.  I have served on the Town of Burlington Scholarship Committee for the last two years and have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the town in that capacity.  This has led me to want to become more involved in an educational leadership role to represent Burlington.

I have lived in Burlington since 2011. My daughter is a second grader at Francis Wyman, and my son will join her at Francis Wyman in about a year. Shawsheen is an important resource for the town because of the opportunities of vocational/technical education it offers to students.

I believe that I can provide the leadership and advocacy that Burlington needs due to the commitment I have to public service by serving on the Town of Burlington Scholarship Committee as well as the Conversation Commission.  I have also served on the Young Alumni Council for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell as well as the boards of several non-profits.

I would appreciate your support in the upcoming election as I hope to increase awareness of Shawsheen and to continue to ensure that Burlington is well-represented there.  Although trades are important, there is more to Shawsheen such as advanced manufacturing, arts, communication, technology, life sciences and services.  Finally, and most importantly, it is a first-quality choice for a secondary education.  If you have questions or would like to have a dialogue about the future of Shawsheen please feel free to reach out at moffattke@gmail.comPlease remember to color in the oval next to where a write-in name/address would be added.  I hope you and your family are staying healthy and well.

Best Regards,

Kent Moffatt
