Local History Buff to Give Talk on Simonds House, Community Preservation Act


A local history buff will be giving a special presentation this week.


The Burlington Historical Society will present Rob J. Costa, noted author, and long-time history teacher at Burlington High School from 1974 to 2012.


Rob moved to Burlington in 1962 and is the author of two Pictorial Histories of Burlington:  “Images of America: Burlington” in 2001 and “Burlington Through Time” in 2014.


Rob has been in town long enough to see some big changes. He attended 6th Grade at Union School, now the Police Station and attended 7th Grade in the Center School, now the Rec Center. He went through grades 8 to 12 at Burlington High School, which now Marshall Simonds Middle School. He graduated Burlington High School class of 1969.


Rob attended UMASS Amherst where he earned a B.A. in History and Salem State College where he earned a M.A.T. in History


Rob will speak to the Historical Society and its guests about the Jonathon Simonds House, the Community Preservation Act and the 100 year old House Survey.


The talk will be held on Thursday, October 4, at the Human Resource Building, 61 Center Street on the first floor.  Doors open at 6:30 and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. The program is free to the public and handicapped accessible.
