MSMS Hosting Program to Help Parents Track Children's Online Presence

By: BNEWS

Do you know what your children are doing online?

Marshall Simonds Middle School staff members aim to help families navigate through their child or children’s web presence through a workshop on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m., a release from Burlington Public Schools states.

The event, which will take place at the middle school at 114 Winn St., will be led by Assistant Principal Josh Murphy and Student Resource Officers Keith Sheppard and Vito Costa, before the school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) group holds its meeting that evening.

Principal Cari Perchase said the purpose of hosting the event is in response to the Department of Justice’s student and family presentations. Similar events have been held at the school in previous years, Perchase said, and the event will focus on providing “practical tips” to parents and families.

“This is meant to be a hands-on workshop to assist families with monitoring their child's social media and online presence,” she said.
