MSMS Second Assistant Principal Position Filled After a Year of Being Vacant

A leadership position in Burlington’s middle school that had been vacant for a year due to budget restraints has been filled.

“This spring, with the support of the School Committee, Marshall Simonds Middle School was able to restore the second assistant principal position which was eliminated due to budget cuts last year,” a post from Burlington Public Schools says. “We are pleased to introduce Mrs. Jennifer Chen Fein as the newest member of the Marshall Simonds Middle School Administrative Team.”

Chen Fein recently completed a full-year master’s program in educational leadership, the post says. The program included a residency component, where she completed a full internship in two different middle schools in the Boston Public Schools. Prior to pursuing an administrative career, Chen Fein was a mathematics teacher at Newton South High School and at the Tompkins Square Middle School, a public school in New York City.

“Mrs. Chen Fein was chosen from an outstanding pool of candidates and a rigorous search process," said MSMS Principal Cari Perchase. "We were fortunate to have such strong candidates. Thank you to everyone who participated in this search process."

Mrs. Chen Fein will officially begin at Marshall Simonds Middle School on July 1.
