NWS Issues Winter Storm Warning Ahead of Likely Heavy Snow

By: Rich Hosford

It appears New England will be hit by another significant snow storm just as it finishes digging out from the last one on Thursday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of New England, including Middlesex County in Massachusetts, that will be in effect from 7 a.m. on Sunday to 7 p.m. on Monday.

According to the warning the area could receive between 12 to 16 inches of snow.

“Snow will move into the region Sunday morning and continue, heavy at times, into early in the day on Monday ending during the afternoon and evening hours,” the NWS states.

The warning also states there will be a north wind that will blow between 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts as fast as 40 mph.

The agency also advises residents to stay home if at all possible.

“The heavy snow will make many roads impassable with low visibilities and may produce isolated power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines,” the NWS says.
