NWS Issues Winter Storm Watch for Storm That Could Bring 6-12 Inches of Snow

By: Rich Hosford

It appears winter is not quite done with us yet.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that will be in effect from 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7 through 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 8. The watch is in effect for northeastern and western Massachusetts as well as parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The NWS says that during the period of the watch we could see 6 to 12 inches of snow with some areas getting as much as 16 inches.

“Plan on difficult travel conditions,” the NWS states. “Significant reductions in visibility are possible. Heavy wet snow will increase the risk for down tree limbs/branches, resulting in possible power outages.”

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
