By: BNEWS

Keep your boots, hats, gloves and snow shovel at the ready.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the area that will run from 9 a.m. on Thursday until 4 a.m. on Friday.

For the Burlington area the NWS is calling for snow before 1 p.m. on Thursday followed by rain between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. before it will switch back to snow in the evening and into the night. During the day they are predicting snow accumulation of less than half an inch.

Thursday night and early Friday morning may see more snow accumulation, up to 1 to 2 inches, the advisory states. It will also be breezy with a wind between 16 to 21 miles per hour with gusts as fast as 50 mph. Temperatures will be in the low 30s overnight but are expected to climb to 38 during the day Friday.

When it is falling the snow is expected to impact driving conditions due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility.
