NWS Warns of Dense Fog Conditions for Morning Commute

By: Rich Hosford

Motorists should give themselves extra time for the Wednesday commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement that is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.

During that time the NWS says areas of fog are expected to develop and may be very dense in areas typically prone to heavy fog.

“Light winds and partial learning this evening will set the stage for areas of fog to develop late tonight into early Wednesday morning,” the NWS said on Tuesday afternoon. “Some of the fog may become locally dense in the typically prone location…reducing visibilities to one quarter of a mile at times.”

Motorists traveling late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning should drive with extra caution and be prepared for rapidly changing visibility over very short distances, the statement reads. The fog should quickly burn off by mid to late morning.
