Photo of the Week: Baltimore Oriole in its Colorful Glory

By: Rich Hosford

Another week, another photo to highlight.

This week’s photo is a good reminder that spring has arrived. It was taken by Burlington resident Phyllis Neufeld and shows a Baltimore Oriole taking off from a bunch of flowers at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The bird gets it name from the resemblance of the male's colors to those on the coat-of-arms of Lord Baltimore, an English nobleman born in 1605 who became the first proprietor of the Province of Maryland.

Thanks for the photo, Phyllis!

We’d like to see your photos. They could be of something you see around town, the weather outside your own door or even photos of your family members and pets. Whatever you think is interesting and would like to share.
