Photo of the Week: Beautiful Butterfly Taking a Rest

By: Rich Hosford

Another week, another photo to highlight.

This week we have a shot of a beautiful winged creature taking a quick break at Mary Cummings Park. It was sent in by Todd Duggan and shows a Monarch Butterfly sitting on some thistle in a field at the park. The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly that is considered an iconic pollinator species. The eastern North American population is notable for its annual southward migration from the northern United States and Canada all the way down to Florida and Mexico. That’s a long journey for those delicate wings.

Thanks for the Photo, Todd!

We’d like to see your photos. They could be of something you see around town, the weather outside your own door or even photos of your family members and pets. Whatever you think is interesting and would like to share.
